Dive Insight:
DoorDash is exploring stadium partnerships as part of its pursuit of greater ordering innovation, Senior Director of Partnerships Vanessa Carr wrote in an email to Restaurant Dive.
In May, the aggregator partnered with ASM Global as part of a multi-venue agreement to provide in-venue ordering during games and events at ASM Global’s top North American arenas, stadiums, convention centers and theaters. The company also worked with NASCAR last year to deliver food items sold at racetracks to fans’ homes through the NASCAR Refuel app.
As part of the Golden State Warriors launch, both organizations will provide fans the ability to win prizes and receive discounts on orders, among other opportunities. Bay Area DashPass members can enter a sweepstakes to win a “Warrior for a Day” experience by entering “Golden” on eligible purchases at checkout. That experience includes custom jerseys, an on-court skills clinic and gift cards.
Other third-party delivery providers have been expanding into stadiums as well to take advantage of captive audiences. Uber Eats launched in-stadium ordering earlier this year across more than a half dozen U.S stadiums. ASAP, the delivery brand owned by Waitr Holdings, struck in-app ordering partnerships with the New York Giants and New York Jets in July and with the Florida Panthers in September. ASAP also works with the New Orleans Saints.
