CosMc’s opened its second location and its first in Texas on Tuesday, the company said in a press release emailed to Restaurant Dive. The McDonald’s spinoff initially opened in a Chicago suburb in December and offers a beverage-heavy menu alongside breakfast and snack items.
The Dallas, Texas, location is the first of several locations slated for the Lone Star State. Roughly nine are expected overall in the Dallas and San Antonio markets in the coming months, the company said. The newest restaurant will offer ordering via the drive-thru, counter service and walk-up.
The concept experienced significant buzz in its Chicago location, with long drive-thru lines that had customers waiting for hours. A few days after it opened, the line reached upwards of 150 cars.
CosMc’s is roughly 2,800 square feet compared to a traditional McDonald’s restaurant of 4,000 to 5,000 square feet.
“CosMc’s is a small format concept with all the DNA of McDonald’s but its own unique personality,” McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said during the company’s investor day in December.
Beverages are highly customizable. The new location also will have two additional menu items, a Beach Protein Frappe and Melon Herb Chiller.
