Dive Brief:
- Grubhub and Hilton have expanded their partnership to deliver food, grocery and convenience items to over 2,600 hotels across Hilton’s Hampton, Tru and Spark brands, the companies said in a Wednesday press release.
- Grubhub partnered with Hilton last year to offer food delivery to 500 Homewood Suites by Hilton and Home2Suites by Hilton. The third-party delivery provider, which was acquired by Wonder earlier this year, has expanded its reach into hotels in the past few years and through partnerships with Sonesta, My Place Hotels of America and Choice Hotels International.
- Along with providing an additional amenity to hotel guests, these partnerships help Grubhub grow brand awareness across the U.S., where it is the third-largest delivery provider by market share.
Dive Insight:
Since it began partnering with Hilton in 2023, delivery orders to Hilton properties have more than doubled. Guests can access Grubhub’s marketplace, with over 375,000 merchants, by scanning a QR code. Hilton guests can also get one free month of Grubhub+, which offers $0 delivery fees, lower service fees and a 5% credit toward pickup orders.
“The expansion of our Grubhub Onsite partnership to include Hampton, Tru, and Spark enhances the amenities offered at our beloved hotels, offering even more value to our guests and ensuring they have easy access to the items they want during their stay,” said Bill Duncan, Hilton’s senior vice president and global category head of All Suites and Focused Service brands.
Grubhub, which has long struggled with gaining U.S. market share, has been expanding its reach through campus ordering, one of its fastest growing channels, and now services over 360 universities. It also partners with Amazon to provide Prime members with a Grubhub+ membership in the U.S. In May, Amazon added Grubhub restaurant delivery to its platform to make it easier to order from the third-party provider.
