Harmon brings over 30 years of franchising and operations experience at Smoothie King, Papa Murphy’s, Potbelly, McDonald’s and Blockbuster to his role as Playa Bowls CEO. His tenure is effective immediately, according to a press release issued by the company Tuesday morning.
“Harmon has an exceptional reputation for exceeding business objectives and franchisee relationships in the restaurant industry and will be a valuable asset as we continue to grow and develop our company,” Rob Giuliani, co-founder of Playa Bowls, said in a statement.
Harmon replaces Giuliani, who will remain as the chief innovation officer “and continue to play a critical role in Playa Bowls’ strategic development,” according to the release.
The chain currently operates over 175 units in 20 states and intends to scale its U.S. footprint. Competitor Smoothie King also has made C-suite hiring plays as it gears up to expand domestically, hiring a CMO, chief people officer and chief people officer in November.
