Subway has added three new Signature Subs to its menu — the Honey Mustard BBQ Chicken, Spicy Nacho Chicken and Cheesy Garlic Steak sandwiches, the company said Tuesday in a press release.
The brand also brought back BBQ sauce after a three year absence, rolled out a new cheddar cheese sauce and added SubKrunch, a “first-of-its-kind” crunchy topping, of unspecified material.
The sandwich chain has leaned heavily on menu development this year, entering the snack category with the January launch of Subway Sidekicks. It expanded this platform with the addition of Footlong Dippers in June. Subway also added lavash wraps to its menu in April, in place of tortillas.
“Subway’s new menu update is all about great flavor at a great value and giving our guests new ways to take their footlong subs and snacks to the next level,” said Paul Fabre, Senior Vice President of Culinary Innovation at Subway.
In addition to the menu items, the chain is selling Doritos Sweet & Tangy BBQ chips for a limited time, the press release said.
Subway has had success with its major menu updates, which began in 2021. The chain has seen an uptick in same-store sales over the past few years across North America. Its latest menu innovation, Subway Sidekicks, is among the most popular, selling nearly 30 million snack items in the six months after launch.
