Name: Elias Reyna
New title: Chief people and diversity officer, Papa Johns
Previous title: Vice president of human resources, manufacturing and distribution at ABM Industries
Elias Reyna is returning to lead Papa Johns’ human resources and diversity efforts on Nov. 28 after spending several months as an HR executive at ABM Industries, a facilities management company, the pizza chain announced Monday. Reyna left Papa Johns’ in July after spending a little over two years as VP of global human resources and people services for the pizza chain, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Reyna said he was excited to rejoin Papa Johns, adding that his previous tenure there included “a role in the historic cultural transformation of Papa Johns.”
As reported by Forbes, Papa Johns faced criticism over its corporate culture in 2018 in the wake of a broader scandal incited by founder and then-CEO John Schnatter. Reyna, working under former CPDO Marvin Boakye, was part of a company wide effort to turn around the chain’s culture and improve benefits. Papa Johns’ recently extended its college benefits program to more hourly workers.
In his new role, Reyna will oversee Papa Johns’ “human resources; diversity, equity and inclusion; talent recruiting and management; total rewards; and employee relations functions,” according to the press release. Reyna previously worked in HR in the petroleum sector at Shell Oil, Tesoro Refining and Marketing and Marathon Petroleum Corporation.
