Puttshack named its chief financial officer and global president, Logan Powell, as CEO, effective immediately, according to a Thursday press release.
Powell has been with the company for five years and was a major factor in “spearheading the growth and development of the social entertainment brand over the past five years,” the company said.
He replaces Joe Vrankin, who served as CEO beginning in 2019, according to Vrankin’s LinkedIn profile. The announcement did not give a specific reason for why Vrankin is leaving the top post, but did note that he and Powell worked together on the transition.
In 2021, Vrankin oversaw Puttshack’s entry to the U.S. market, where it now has 14 locations.
Powell described his accession to the CEO post as an opportunity to grow the brand and to lead in its sector.
“As competitive socializing continues to appeal to multiple generations, I look forward to working with our leadership team to further our focus on driving innovation, operational excellence, best-in-class hospitality, and sustainable growth across the U.S.,” he said.
Puttshack’s self-scoring mini-golf technology speeds up games, making drinks more of a focus for guests, the company said in January. The company emphasizes alcohol in its food and beverage options, and allows customers to drink, but not eat, during games, which contributes to a unit margin of about 25%.
In March, the company announced a new addition to its gaming lineup, the Challenge Hole, which offers guests 90-minute sessions with six mini golf games in an interactive stationary space that includes full-service dining.
In January, Puttshack named Susan Walmeslely as chief marketing officer, according to the press release. President Dave Diamond continues to direct real estate, design, and construction. The company did not name an executive who would take on Powell’s CFO responsibilities.
