Name: Ulyses Camacho
New title: President, Taco Cabana
Previous title: Chief operating officer, Taco Cabana
Ulyses Camacho will serve as president at Taco Cabana, according to a press release issued Thursday. He will oversee all aspects of the chain’s operations, and will continue to hold the role of COO, according to his LinkedIn profile. Camacho has worked at the taco chain for about 15 years, according to the press release.
Taco Cabana, which operates 143 company-owned restaurants in Texas and has 6 franchised units in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will launch a franchising program later this year, the company wrote in an email. Taco Cabana didn’t immediately respond to a query about when it stopped offering franchising as a development option.
“I look forward to continuing to lead and develop a great team of passionate TC individuals in operations and the San Antonio corporate support center as we work together to build Brand TC and scale-up through franchising,” Camacho said.
As COO, Camacho helped take Taco Cabana private when YTC Enterprises, a subsidiary of a major Jack in the Box franchisee owned by Anil Yadav, bought the chain from Fiesta Restaurant Group in 2021. Camacho helped overhaul the menu at Taco Cabana, among other changes following Yadav’s purchase of the company.
“[Camacho] led rebranding, restructuring and refocus efforts at all levels of the company including Brand, operations, R&D, R&M, training and HR, finance and off-premise,” the press released stated.
YTG Enterprises has been expanding through acquisitions. In addition to Taco Cabana, the company bought a controlling stake in Nick the Greek two months ago. Yadav Enterprises franchises units from Jack in the Box, Denny’s, El Pollo Loco, Corner Bakery Cafe, Sizzler and TGI Fridays, according to LinkedIn, and owns franchisors Taco Cabana and Nick the Greek through subsidiaries YTC and YTG, respectively.
