Marco’s Pizza has named Denise Lauer chief marketing officer, the brand announced in a press release emailed to Restaurant Dive on Tuesday. Lauer, per her LinkedIn profile, is joining the company from Informed Group Inc. As CMO, Lauer will help lead Marco’s brand strategy as the pizza chain aims to continue its national expansion.
According to the press release, Lauer “has an extensive background developing high-performing, data-driven marketing and communications strategies for both startups and leading brands, including Morton Salt, PepsiCo – Quaker Foods & Snacks, FedEx, and Eaton Corporation.”
Lauer said in the press release that she looks forward to “catapulting the brand into the national spotlight.”
Marco’s has doubled its unit count in the last six years, the company said, and now has 1,100 locations in 34 states, Puerto Rico and the Bahamas. The company aims to continue the growth through franchising.
In support of that goal, Lauer will lead “brand strategy, national advertising and media buying strategy, digital and social media, web/app experience, product development and innovation, promotions, multicultural marketing, field/regional marketing and consumer engagement.”
Last September, Marco’s appointed Gerardo Flores of Jersey Mike’s to serve as chief development officer to oversee its considerable development pipeline.
